"Thanks to life, which has given me so much ..." Violeta Parra.
por PNL Daniel Velasco
A couple of days ago, I had the opportunity to teach a course for developing managerial skills; In this group, made up of company directors and managers, I began by asking them their names and asking them to add three reasons why they were grateful for life; For some participants, very focused on business life, finances, numbers and results, this was a somewhat strange question, so I had to explain that my intention was to start a training course, recognizing the achievements achieved and that these They could be in monetary or even intangible terms, since enjoying the love of a couple, children, parents or friends is an “asset” (already in accounting terms, it was easier for them to get hooked on my activity) which few Sometimes we recognize it as such.
The answers I got delighted me, they did not surprise me, since this is an activity that I have done for a long time; However, I liked being able to corroborate that for people the most important thing and what they value the most is:
The family
Having a job
Professional development
Enjoying free time
Being alive
Enjoying good health
I think that it is not fortuitous, nor surprising, to think of these possibilities in the first instance, because in some way, work meets basic needs, the family gives us belonging, and we achieve transcendence and awaken creativity, through the professional development.
What does attract attention is that there is a tendency to “take for granted” the privileges that we enjoy, so much so that, until we forget them, we even trivialize them, and in some more serious cases, even inadvertently we despise (understanding contempt as the lack of attention or care).
That is why they say that "nobody knows what he has until he sees it lost"; Because being immersed in our daily activities and with our heads in “our world”, that we leave aside our loved ones, we know that we count on them and that they will be there for us if we need them; But, we forgot to say "I love you", so nothing more, without reason, without reason; We forgot to say thank you, "for nothing and for everything" but without receiving anything in return at that precise moment.
With our health, the same happens; we are well, healthy and it seems that we
We worry about taking care of ourselves, and well ... at work, we complain because "it is barely Tuesday and there is still a lot to go by Friday" they are actually part of the fortune of having a job; He who does not have a job, surely does not have those same pressures, does not worry about a schedule, or seeing the face of the boss or boss; Your concerns may be different: How am I going to pay the bills?
My invitation today is to be AWARE and to be grateful, to truly feel lucky to have our loved ones, our work, our health or everything that you can think of that you have and that we suddenly forget to thank and appreciate.
And what else do you appreciate in this life? Share us.
